Question

I am planning to give a staff member a lump sum as a one-off commission payment at the end of this financial year. Do I have to pay workers’ compensation and superannuation on this amount?

Answer

Yes. Workers’ compensation premiums are calculated on wages including most allowances, bonuses, commissions, etc. Superannuation guarantee is calculated on ordinary time earnings which include most payments to employees except overtime payments.
